Search stays in PirovacPirovac lies on a broad bay about 26 kilometres north-west of Šibenik, looking out towards the island of Murter. The settlement grew up in the 15th century, and parts of its defensive wall from around 1505 survive in the old centre, along with the parish church of St George. Just offshore, the islet of Sveti Stjepan holds the ruins of a Franciscan monastery. Along the seafront, a promenade lined with cafés and restaurants links the old town with the beaches.
It is a good choice for families and for anyone who likes a village with some life in the evening. The bay is sheltered, the sea tends to be calm and clear, and dolphins are sometimes seen here. Vrana Lake nature park, Croatia's largest natural lake, is only a few kilometres away and has cycling and walking trails, and many boat trips to the Kornati islands leave from Pirovac, so there is plenty to do on a day off the beach.
Most of our stays here are in the residential streets behind the seafront, a short walk or cycle from the water, rather than right on the shore. That usually means more space, a garden or terrace and quieter nights, while the promenade, Lolić and the old town stay within easy reach on foot. If a sea view matters to you, filter for it and book early, as stays with one are in short supply here.
Beaches
Lolić
Pirovac's main beach: golden pebbles, pine shade and a gentle slope into shallow water. There are loungers, umbrellas, changing cabins and toilets, a playground with a slide and trampoline, beach volleyball and outdoor fitness equipment, plus bars nearby that stay busy in the evening.
Starine
Starts next to the old town and runs towards Makirina hill, whose surroundings are protected under Natura 2000. It has a children's playground, beach bars and equipment rental, and a path up to the Makirina viewpoint for a wide view over Pirovac Bay.
Getting there and around
Zadar and Split airports are both roughly an hour away by car. The A1 motorway has its own Pirovac interchange, which makes the drive from inland Croatia straightforward, and the D8 coastal road runs through the village towards Vodice and Šibenik. Murter, reached by a short bridge at Tisno, is next door. A car is the easiest way to get around, and most of our stays include parking.
