A quiet village wrapped around one of the deepest bays on the Šibenik coast, halfway between Šibenik and Primošten, where most houses look straight down at the water.
Search stays in GrebašticaGrebaštica lies about 15 kilometres south of Šibenik and the same distance north of Primošten, spread along a long, sheltered bay just off the coastal road. The bay is deep enough to draw sailors all year, and small hamlets such as Galešnica, Banovci, Dumići, Jakovljevići and Šparadići line its shore, each with its own little cove. Above the bay sits Gornja Grebaštica, the older upper village, with the Kanela spring.
The best-known sight is the defensive wall built in 1497 across the Oštrica peninsula to protect the village during the Ottoman wars, later used as a quarantine station during outbreaks of plague. Walk out that way for views back over the bay; mouflon, a wild mountain sheep, live on the peninsula. The parish church of St Mary and St Peter, partly from the 15th century, is also worth a look. Otherwise, days are simple: swim, eat, repeat.
Grebaštica suits families, couples and anyone who wants calm evenings rather than nightlife. It also works well as a base for day trips, with Šibenik's old town, Primošten and Krka National Park all within a comfortable drive. Most of our stays here have sea views and many are within a short walk of the water, often on the terraced slopes above one of the coves. Pools are rare, so the bay itself is your pool.

Banovci
In the centre of the bay, on its north-eastern side, with a mix of sand and pebbles and gentle entry that works well for children. Wooded hills around the cove give the place a green, sheltered feel.
Galešnica cove
A quiet inlet at the northern end of the bay with shallow water and fine gravel, good for small children and for a game of picigin. Trees come right down to the sea and shade part of the beach.
Coves around Oštrica
Smaller coves on the approaches to the village, including Mirina bay, which looks across to the old defensive wall on Oštrica. Facilities are minimal, so take water and something to lie on.
Getting there and around
Split Airport is the closest, usually a little under an hour away by car; Zadar Airport takes longer, at around an hour and a quarter or more. Grebaštica is right on the D8 coastal road, so arriving is easy: from the A1 motorway, take the Šibenik exit and head south past the town, or come up from Primošten. There is no ferry involved. Local buses on the coastal road exist but are infrequent, so plan on a car. Most of our stays include parking.

Tips before you book

Not really. The shore is mostly pebble and fine gravel, with some sand mixed in at Banovci. The water is clear and the coves are sheltered, but if you need proper sand for small children, you would have to travel north to the Zadar region.
